Over the past six months, I’ve done so well with regards to reigning in my inner product junkie, I decided to reward myself with a new product today — Taliah Waajid’s Lock it Up.
I’ll admit, the words “Lock it Up” and “Tight Hold” on the label intimidated me at first, however a friend of mine uses this all the time and her twists come out quite nice. So I decided to try it.
Here are the results…

Overall, I liked the product. I still haven’t found anything that beats Miss Jessie’s Curly Buttercreme in terms of how my hair feels, but this is probably a close second and I would rate it above Organics’ Twist and Lock Gel.
I plan to wear the twists for at least a week and then take them out for a twist out.

Hello Lisa,
I have been transitioning for a little over a year now… not the big chop but no perms and keeping my hair braided. I’m really battling now because I want to be able to comb or at least touch my own hair but I’m not sure if I will be able to manage or take care of my natural hair… I will be honest…It’s almost time for these braids to be redone and I have a perm waiting on the side… Please help… how long will it take for my natural curls to be defined? Would I need to wash my hair everyday if I decided to “accept” my natural hair or just keep in conditioned daily?

Hey Lisa, OK so I’m maybe 2 months into my transition. Man! is this hard! But I am committed. As of yet I don’t have any products, other than Motions moisturizer. I am however gonna go out and get some. I’m a very cost-contious person & this whole process seems to be very expensive. I’ll only get a few of the products to start. Is this a wise decision? Also, what do you do at night when you have twist in? Do you just put your silk bonnet on without treating your twists? When you wake up is there something you do to them then? Im gonna have a natural friend of mine put my hair in braids (just my own hair), is there something I need to do to prepair for that. How long do you recommend I keep the braids in? I know I have a lot of questions but I want to make sure I’m doing everything I can to make this a smooth transition. Love all of your info & videos. Keep up the good work!

I love Kinky curly hair custard…wow it made my short natural into a nice curly look and I slept all night and did not wake up with flat hair. clearly I need to spray it with water and add some more product before I go out but it really held it’s shape well. I hate the cost of this product though…any similar products that any of you want to share that isn’t so costly?

I’ve heard people say they get the same results with Eco Styler Gel (you can buy a huge jar of that stuff for like $4 at Sallys) and it doesn’t take as long to dry. I have yet to try a wash and go but I have a jar of KKCC that I need to use so I may do that soon.
