Results of My First Bantu Knot Out Hairstyle

I finally did my first bantu knot out, and I was pleased with the results considering how I struggled with the actual knotting technique.

Bantu Knot Out

As you’ll see in the video below, my knots looked more like clumps, but hey… you gotta learn somehow. 😉

A YouTube subbie noticed I was twisting in the opposite direction of the two-strand twists, and probably should have made the knot go in the same direction.

In any event, I was pretty pleased with the results, and I got 5 solid days out of the style.  Had I not been playing in my hair, I would have gotten more.

I left the knots in for almost two full days and just wore a cap when I went out.  Leaving them in for longer than one night also helped the hairstyle last.

To protect the style at night, I slept in a satin bonnet.

Here’s the video…

Looks good. Bantu knots (chiney bumps) were my fav transitioning style. Without these I would have never made it through my transition. Instead if twist with your fingers, once you finish your twist, twirl the twist tightly until it begins to coil/wrap around itself. Then proceed to twirl/coil until you can place the last bit of hair underneath. If the ends don’t stay under, you can use a bobby pin or rubber band to secure.

    Love your channel and webpage.

    Thanks, Lisa.

I’m going to try it. Not sure if you know, how would you really, that I took my locs out on Jan 1st. I didn’t want to go in to the new year still “bound” … not that I felt I wasn’t truly free with my hair but I wanted to BREATHE. It’s hard to explain, nevertheless, I’m having a heck of a time with the TWIST OUTS and now here you are showing me yet another method! I’ll watch the video a few times and will let you know what I manage.

Good seeing you! {Go Eagles!} Too soon?

Yeah maybe a tad too soon. lol. Girrrrl, I didn’t know you un-loc’d your hair! How exciting. I understand where you’re coming from as my friend just did the same thing for the same reasons.

Keep practicing. My early twist out days were not all that great either. It just takes time. Enjoy the journey and great to see ya here!
