Product Junkie Alert: I have a new favorite leave-in conditioner. It’s the Oyin Handmade Honey Hemp conditioner.
It’s all natural, and because it has honey, it keeps my hair from frizzing up while locking in moisture. Now that half my hair has transitioned, it’s very important for me to keep a consistent look if I wear a rod set or curly style.
If I don’t, the transitioned hair will frizz while the relaxed ends stay shiny and straight. The Honey Hemp Conditioner keeps my natural hair moisturized and minimizes frizziness.
The product is all-natural, and because of its ingredients, you can use it as a leave-in or rinse-out conditioner. I typically use it as a leave-in and use my Denman brush to distribute the product while my hair is wet.
BTW I love my Denman brush! I removed 3 rows so it’s a modified 4-row brush (instead of 7 rows). It’s great for detangling and product distribution, but doesn’t rip my hair out.
Anywho, if you’re looking for a great conditioner to help you lock-in moisture, I highly recommend Honey Hemp. Right now, this product as pushed my other conditioners to the back of the cabinet. 😉

Is there another leave in that u recommend that I can use until my honey hemp arrive? Or will it be OK for me to not use it for this week
lisa says
Hi Brittany
I don’t think one week will hurt, or you can just pick up a leave-in at your local beauty supply if you just want to use something. Any leave-in that uses mostly natural ingredients is good.

YES! This site is “Napsolutely” FANTASTIC!!!! I thoroughly appreciate how direct and straightforward the entire site is! I absolutely appreciate how organized and informational it is, technically, literally, and visually! All the hard work you’ve put into sharing such wonderful information with us is so appreciated! Thanks!
PS, when will you have YOUR line of hair accessories and hats and utensils available on your site for purchase? 😉

Hello Lisa,
Ran across your site last night. A lot of great info & tips. My daughter & I have been natural for almost 2 yrs now. She wants to go back to relaxers, but I am trying to definitely hold off. I have every product just like everyone else. What kind of styles can I do for a Middle school age child? How do you do rod sets? I absolutely love your hair…it looks so healthy. I think this is an awesome website. Thanks for your help.

Hi there, Ms. Lisa!
I was wondering if, when you just “condition” your hair instead of or in between “deep conditions,” what conditioner do you use? Or, do you always deep condition your hair each week? Meaning, when you aren’t deep conditioning your hair, is there a “wash out” conditioner you use after shampooing?
By the way, your “pre-poo” routine/concoction… I tried it for the first time last week, and it’s like MAGIC on my hair!!!! Talk about a “natural detangler!” Thanks so much!!!! I will forever PRE-POO!

Hi Deidra
Even when I deep condition I always follow up with a leave-in. Oyin’s Honey Hemp is my fave right now. And if you want a very light conditioner, just mix a spray bottle with 90% water and 10% Honey Hemp. I often spray my sections with this before twisting.

So do you always deep condition at every wash? Thanks for all your wonderful insight!
lisa says
I’ve gotten lazy over the past few months but I try to… if nothing else every OTHER wash.

Oh and so glad you loved the pre-poo concoction!! Isn’t it fab????

Hello im starting to go natural I cant afford the leave in cinditioner u use yet . What can I grab at walmart that can work just as well? And im getting braids soon what can I do while my hair is braided to keep my hair moisturized and healthy while in braids??
lisa says
Hi Larhonda
Hopefully someone else can answer, but I honestly haven’t used anything else other than the ones I’ve recommended. But I’m sure if you ask around or search on some of the hair care forums you can get a recommendation for another leave-in conditioner. I wrote a post about maintaining your hair in braids. Here it is https://napturallycurly.com/2010/05/wearing-braids/

I am having a lot of frizz after I do my hair. I have been trying different products but still aren’t happy. Where can I purchase this Honey Hemp conditioner? What is the Aloe Vera for? Is that to help with moisture and frizz?
lisa says
I bought the Honey Hemp online. If you google the name, the site will come up. It’s Oyin Handmade’s store. Aloe Vera helps give moisture and shine. It can also minimize frizz but keep in mind your texture is your texture. If it’s anything like mine, frizz is inevitable after a few days but these products can help stave it off for a bit.

What is a Denman Brush? I transitioned from relaxer to naturall hair around the same time that you did and I’m still learning a lot.
lisa says
It’s a brush that has removable bristles that is good for defining the hair with product while it’s wet. Some also use it to detangle. If you go to YouTube and search there are a lot of naturals doing demonstrations.
