One thing I miss about my length is being able to pull my hair in a ponytail or clip and go.
Now that I’ve trimmed off all the damaged hair, I don’t have that luxury anymore.
Nevertheless, I’ve found a solution. If I need a quick, wash-n-go style, I’ll just flat twist the sides of my hair and throw on my beanie cap (purchased from Sally’s Beauty Supply.)
Even though it’s a knit cap, it’s not wool and it has larger holes so you can wear it in warmer months without looking like you thought it was winter. 😉 The cap has a very soft, elastic band that fits snug but not too tight.
This is now my go-to look for errand running when I don’t feel like doing much to my hair.
This also makes a great protective style because your ends are tucked away. Wearing protective styles will help you retain length.
Now that my “bad ends” are gone, I’m starting to grow my hair out and I plan to keep mini-chopping instead of doing the big chop. (More than half my length is natural now.) So protecting my ends has become even more important since I’m now focusing more on length.
I’ve spent so much time on my hair in the last few months that it’s nice to find a style that requires less fuss.
Note: You can also do this with a rod set. Just rod your bangs and tuck everything else away! See that style.

Hey lisa, I wear this kind of cap too… almost everyday. I just started going natural too.
I did not cut of my relaxed ends so that I can still make it into a puff.
Way to go girl…
