Why oh why does my hair have such expensive taste? 😉 First Miss Jessie’s, now Original Moxie (sigh).
I first learned about their Oasis Moisture Gel ($22 for 8 oz.) from a video by CharyJay on YouTube. Her twists always look so luscious and I was instantly sold when she reviewed this product last year.
Don’t let the word “gel” fool you, though. It’s not sticky and doesn’t harden/flake like many gels. It’s actually very moisturizing and leaves my twists feeling super soft. Also, a little goes a long way so I’m still on the same bottle I purchased last year.
Here are the ingredients in case you’re interested: Distilled Water, Vegetable Glycerin, Organic Aloe Vera, Sodium PCA, Cellulose, Panthenol, Phenozyelthonal, Glycol, Essential Oils and Violet Leaf.
So here’s a flat twist style I did using Original Moxie’s Oasis Moisture Gel, and below the video, you can see my big-hair twist out after I took the flat twists down. 🙂

So I wore my big hair for a whopping total of one day. This is not exactly an exercise-friendly hairstyle, so you can imagine how it looked after a 30 minute workout. 🙂

I’ve been using Shea Moisture Deep Treatment Masque for my mini-twists and it works wonders. Not only does it keep my hair deeply conditioned, but it holds the twists very well. I should be satisfied, but the product junkie in me wants to try new products. I see some people who twist with gels. What do you use?

This is a wonderful product for mature hair because it softens and hydrates without adding weight.

What a beautiful twist out. But we’ve got to find a way to make such a great style last longer than 1 day. LOL. Have you seen the YT videos under the topic Hair Perfection. I believe Coily Head Chic has been working on techniques to give twists and twistouts more mileage.
Thanks Sandy! Usually my twist outs last 7 days or more. The only reason this one didn’t is because flat twists don’t typically give me as much lasting hold, the Moxie Gel does not have a lot of hold and I worked out.
But I normally can get a lot of mileage out of my twist outs even when exercising because I leave the twists in for 3 days or more and use a gel. Plus I wore the flat twist style for 10 days so it was time for it to end anyway. lol
